Thomas P. Fitzgerald | Principal
Mr. Fitzgerald’s broad range of experience over the past 15 years include commercial, industrial, government, and residential clients in both the private and public sectors. This experience provides the solid foundation for offering logical problem solving, innovative design solutions and sensibly detailed construction documents.
Mr. Fitzgerald’s commitment to his client’s earned him recognition for his part in achieving the design-building goals for Nextel Communications during their major infrastructure expansion in the mid 90’s. Mr. Fitzgerald’s role as project manager for the re-structuring and consolidation of Cox Communications New England market included design & space planning for extensive renovations to a 40,000 S.F., 24 hour call center in Rhode Island, which maintained continuous operations during construction.
Tom’s hands on experience in the construction industry is a valuable asset to his residential clients. Having worked as a carpenter, Tom understands the mechanics of “how things work together”, which when incorporated into the design process, provide a better understanding of what is constructible and what affect that may have on the budget. The ultimate experience for any architect is the opportunity to design their own home. Tom multiplied this experience not only by designing a home for him and his wife, but also by constructing much of the home himself. The experience enabled Tom to truly understand the challenges and excitement his residential clients encounter during a design and construction project.
Tom has a Bachelor degree in Architecture from the New York Institute of Technology. He was recognized for his involvement in the preservation of the Aluminaire House in Central Islip, NY, and received an award in Community Design from the Spector Group, Islip, NY.
Mr. Fitzgerald is an active member of the American Institute of Architects and NCARB. He is a Registered Architect in the States of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. In addition, he is a licensed Building Inspector in New Jersey, as well as a member of the International Code Council (ICC) and Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce.
Tom’s strong sense of community and volunteerism is exemplified through his involvement with NORWESCAP (Northwest New Jersey Community Action Program), where he has been a member of the Board of Trustee’s since 2004. Tom also serves as the Treasurer for the High Bridge Business Association, which he helped establish in 2007.
James A. Wiebel | Associate Architect
Mr. Wiebel joined FAS in August of 2004 with over 4 years experience in the retail/commercial fields. Mr. Wiebel’s diverse experience prior to attending New Jersey Institute of Technology complement’s the many talents in the office, and will allow FAS to continue to grow to meet and exceed the goals of our clients.
Jim’s 10 year career as SSgt. in the United States Air Force as a Satellite Equipment Specialist is a valuable asset to any technical office environment in the 21st century. His extensive understanding of computer technology and his ability to visualize space 3-dimensionally provides clients with the mechanical tools needed to visualize how their new spaces will function, as well as interact with existing spaces.
Jim holds an Associate in Science in Architectural Engineering degree from Union County College, and a Bachelor of Architecture degree and Masters Degree in Management / Business Strategies from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is an associate member of American Institute of Architects, and is currently sitting for the registration exam with a goal of being fully licensed in 2009.
Michael A. Miller | Project Manager
Mr. Miller joined the Fitzgerald Architecture Studio in 2001. He comes to the firm with a seasoned background in all aspects of architectural design and project management. His extensive knowledge in electrical wiring and commercial structures have made him a valuable resource when designing structures that require advanced technologies or “smart” systems. Throughout his tenure with FAS, Mike has developed his expertise in the building codes, a resource critical to the building process.
In addition to Mike’s technical expertise, his project management skills have proven to be a valuable asset when coordinating multiple projects, where strong client/contractor relations are required. His track record has earned him special recognition by the Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant and Arizona Public Service Authority.
Mike spearheads Fitzgerald Architecture's Disaster Restoration Services division, for which we have become experts in the field over the past 3 years. The FAS program offers the ability to significantly reduce ALE’s through an efficient process, quick response, and timely turnarounds. In the end, those who experience a loss are placed back in their homes or businesses expeditiously.
Mike has an Associates degree in Design Technology from the Morrison Institute of Technology in Illinois. He has earned professional certificates in Claims Prevention/Change Control, Design of Electrical Seismic Systems, and Radiation Worker Training.
Michael Gronsky, Jr. | Project Architect
Michael Gronsky joined FAS in November of 2007 with over 20 years experience in the retail/commercial and residential fields. Mike’s experience includes Design and Project Management for large national retail stores as well as small scale commercial and residential projects. Mike’s experience in the field of architecture also expands into the field of Site Investigation which includes Site Planning, Site Investigation and Due Diligence studies. Mike has worked in both Corporate Architecture practices as well as the private.
Mike has an Associates in Science degree in Architecture from the Mercer County Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Penn State University. Mike is working towards his professional license, and is planning to sit for the registration examinations beginning in late 2009.
Mike is involved with many local community organizations, and is very active in promoting and working in the field of Historic Preservation and open space management. In Mike’s preservation efforts, he has worked directly with the National Trust of Historic Preservation as well as Preservation New Jersey. Mike is the President of the Union Forge Heritage Association / Solitude House Museum, a non-profit corporation in the Borough of High Bridge and is a member of the local Citizens Advisory Committee.
Jaime Masler ⎪ Project Architect
Jaime Masler joined FAS in September 2008 with over 8 years experience in the retail, commercial, and educational fields. Jaime’s experience includes site development, architectural design, project management, construction documentation, and construction administration.
During the last three years, she was responsible for acquiring development approvals with various municipalities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland and managing those projects through construction documentation and construction.
Prior to that, Jaime was key member of the educational design studio within that firm, responsible for all phases of design; programming, schematic design, and construction documentation and construction administration. She has worked closely with members of several New Jersey school districts in developing long range facility plans, maintenance plans, and strategies for expansion and new construction.
Jaime has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Philadelphia University. She obtained her architectural registration in the State of New Jersey in 2007 and is a member of the American Institute of Architects Central Jersey Chapter.
Shirley Carnall ⎪ Bookkeeper/Office manager
Shirley joined FAS’s team in October 2008 and serves as our Bookkeeper along with assisting our staff by providing support services. With a BS Degree in Accounting from Alfred University in New York, she is charged with the accounts receivable and account payable functions within the Firm. Prior to Shirley leaving the industry to raise her family, she worked with the firms Ternary Corporation, Chase Lincoln, and First Bank.
Shirley is very involved in her local community serving as Treasurer of the Girl Scout Service Unit Team and the Educational Foundation, among other volunteer roles.
John Rivers ⎪ Intern
John (JJ) joined the FAS team in October 2005 as a sophomore in North Hunterdon High School set out to understand if a career in Architecture was right for him. With no prior rofessional work experience, JJ worked after school two days a week and part time during the summer of 06 performing filing tasks, running prints, as well as other general office tasks.
It quickly became evident to the team at FAS that this young gentleman not only possessed many of the talents necessary to become a good Architect, but a great work ethic.
JJ finished his first year at University of Maryland’s School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation with honors, and is working with FAS full time during the summer Piloting the firm’s apprentice program where interns split their time working in the office and in the field along side a builder learning the construction trade.
