Built in 1932, this existing Craftsman Style home located in historic High Bridge has been carefully restored by its homeowners over the past several years. The main goal of the proposed addition was to provide the homeowners with more living space while remaining sensitive to the elegant simplicity of Craftsman Style architecture.

The proposed addition located at the rear of the residence contains a new breakfast room, mud room entry, office, and waiting room for an existing home office on the first floor. Multiple porches were designed to allow access into the addition accented by stone base columns and sweeping roof overhangs. The second floor of the addition contains a master bedroom suite and the modification of the existing bedroom layout in order to create a more efficient second floor plan.

Architecturally, the Craftsman Style is the result of the effort to bring about harmony between the house and its surroundings to get as close as possible to nature. The addition was designed to maintain the existing home’s character and emphasize the residence’s rustic architectural materials and features.
