For this new residence, the unprecidented site created the challenge of creating a dialog between the new residence and it’s pristine surroundings. Sensitivity was given to maintaining a humanistic scale to the new residence while providing the owner’s requested program.
In addition, an effort to acknowledge the surrounding building contexts was reflected by using simple geometries presented in plan, while a seamless transition between the residence and it’s natural surroundings was created through the calculated use of true materials throughout the project.
Because the client was on a very tight construction schedule, this new residence was a “fast-track” project which required that FAS collaborate closely with the Contractor in an effort to maintain continuity between the design and construction phases. FAS was involved in all phases of design and construction, performing full project management, from the conceptual stages through completion, including the subdivision of the property and title research.
